With over 30 years of experience in creating and repairing smoking pipes, I am pleased to devote my time fully to this craftsmanship. My journey in producing smoking pipes started in 1974 when my first pipe spawned from Persimmon Wood. I now make most of my pipes from Briar Burl Wood, Mountain Laurel, Olive Ash, Kingwood, Tulipwood, and hard Maple.

In 1976, under the tutelage of a well-respected craftsman Joe Giardina of Indiana, I learned the art of pipe repair. Through the years, my techniques have been refined and perfected. With attention to detail as well as the pride taken in my craftsmanship, the respect of my customers has been earned.

John Calich was one of Canada's finest carvers. He died in July 2008. John was a full time pipe maker for the last 40 years. Calich pipes were mostly traditional shapes. His signature style is rustication and smooth on the same pipe along with his unique skill to stain a pipe in contrasting colors. He used only top quality Grecian and Calabrian briar. The mouthpieces are hand finished Vulcanite "A". Each pipe was entirely made by hand. John Calich was featured in the summer 2005 issue of Pipes & Tobacco.

His pipes are graded 3E - 7E. Retail prices range from$ 145.00 to $ 500.00 Each pipe is stamped "CALICH" 3-8E, his earlier pipes were graded from 3-14, and a single, tiny silver dot is applied to the top of the stem.
207.255.163.90https://pipedia.org/index.php?title=Lewis&diff=10382Lewis2009-06-24T05:12:18Z
207.255.163.90:

The Lewis family has owned Lewis Pipe & Tobacco since 1969. I started working here in 1972 when I was just 20 years old. Over the past 30 years, I've always tried to carry the best merchandise available. The store is an authorized Davidoff and Opus X dealer and we carry a complete line of quality handmade cigars.

In the 1980's I studied with some of the finest pipe makers in Italy and England and I am nationally known for my pipe making. I am also the authorized national repairman for many high quality pipe brands.

We're not the new kid on the block, just the older one always trying to get better!
David Jones Pipes

I started making pipes in 1986. Since 1988, when I began selling, I have shipped more than 2000 pipes. These pipes are handmade from extra quality plateau briar. I purchased a lot of briar in the early years. Thus I have maintained briar stocks far beyond my immediate needs. This means that I do not have to wonder about the provenance of my wood. My briar is stored in a controlled environment for several years, then brought into the shop for final curing 5 to 7 years before use.
Each pipe is carefully hand shaped. Internal drilling of both the shank and the stem features tapering at the mortise and stem tenon as well as the lip, for just the right draw and smokeability. The stem logo is a mother-of-pearl dot. Each pipe is marked with my signature, handmade, USA, grade and year of manufacture. All pipes are handmade by me from design to final buff.
My grading system consists of a hand rusticated finish followed by five smooth grades. All shapes are also made in XL and Colossal sizes.
207.255.163.90https://pipedia.org/index.php?title=KW_Pipes&diff=10072KW Pipes2009-04-15T06:05:26Z
207.255.163.90: New page: I could find nothing on the internet about Kirk or his pipes since 2007, his website closed in 2007 and from I think he stopped selling on ebay around that same time. '''All About Me and Mine'''
I am in my early thirty's and have been married 10 years. My wife and I are raising our two children, (Alex our eight year old and Emily who is two).

I have been smoking pipes since I was 18 and got a part time job in our local pipe shop. I made friends with the shops local pipe repairman. He taught me how to repair pipes. When he retired in 1998 I bought his pipe repair business from him. Two years ago I decided after repairing hundreds of pipes I should try and carve one for myself. It wasn't a Masterpiece but was and still is a great smoking pipe. I didn't know it then that carving Danish inspired free hand pipes would become my passion. For now while I am raising my family this is only a part-time endeavor.

My father-in-law convinced me to let him sell some of my freehand pipes on E-Bay. This was the beginning of Kirk Walden Pipes. Check out the archive of my pipes and check E-Bay for my current offerings.

If you have any questions for me E-mail me at kirk@kwpipes.com. I will gladly answer your questions and inquiries.
Quality Danish Inspired Freehand Pipes for Sale

At Kirk Walden Pipes, carver Kirk Walden carves one of a kind Danish inspired freehand smoking pipes.

At Kirk Walden Pipes we believe you do not have to spend $300-$500 for a quality, great smoking pipe. We believe every pipe smoker should be able to smoke a high quality pipe at a reasonable price. Kirk prices his pipes for the working majority so he and I can afford them. All our bamboo pipes are $200.00 or less, mostly a lot less. Our other pipes are less than $150.00 with a large selection that is less than $100.00.

To keep our pipes reasonably priced we use high quality pre-formed stems, then shape them to complement the pipe. Custom cut stems can double the price you are paying.

Kirk can custom cut a stem from Vulcanite, Lucite, or Cumberland rod stock on your custom order. Lucite $50.00 - Vulcanite or Cumberland $70.00.

All of Kirks free hand pipes are stamped with his name and the stems have a red jewel like dot. The stems are almost always made of Vulcanite. Kirk prefers Vulcanite, it has a better feel to the tooth.

Kirk can recreate any of his Danish free hand pipes that are in the Pipe Archive and if you do not see what you are looking for he takes Custom Orders. Kirk can pre-carbonize the bowl of any of his pipes. Just let us know if you want this done.

All of Kirks pipes are Freehand, no two will ever be exactly the same. Because of this when Kirk recreates a pipe for you it will be as close to the original as is possible and still be a unique one of a kind pipe you can call your own.
