According to José Manuel Lopes, "French artisan who immigrated to the USA.  Son of a craftsman who arrived in New York at 15 years old.  He opened a pipe factory, which eventually employed 6 workers.  He also produced pipes anonymously for countless North American brands (notably [[Barclay Rex]]) and there is even evidence that he made all the pipes for the [[Wilke]] brand, as well as pipes for the military.  He later set up in California, where his son has continued his work."
