Takeo Arita was born in 1971. The son of well known pipe maker Shizuo Arita. Takeo received the prize in a handmade pipe contest while still in elementary school. Takeo has developed his own style, very different from his father's. He was in architectural design before becoming a pipe maker.
Grading
X $300 - $600 The majority of Arita's rusticated pipes are of this grade.
Y $600 - $900 The majority of Arita's smooth pipes are of this grade.
Z $900 - $1200 Few Z grades are made
Arita also stamps his pipes with the year and with a three digit serial code. Layout as follows:
