Birol Salman was born in 1968 in Istanbul, where he continues to live today. In 2007 he began pipemaking, and by 2010 began selling pipes made from Algerian, Spanish, Italian and Corsican briar, as well as pear and olive. The former electrician now produces approximately 100 pipes a year. The stems are acrylic.
