Firm was founded by Josef Brunner in Kleinlützel (Canton Solothurn) in 1878. In 1932 a Mr. Buhofer joined the Brunner family. The company was named Brunner-Buhofer-Kompagnie, shortly Bru-Bu.

In 1979 the gang of Dr. Horst Wiethüchter and Former Nielsen started to produce the high-grade Bentley pipes there.

Former was asked to go to Switzerland and upgrade the Ancient Bru-Bu factory. He spent many years in Switzerland. Former met his wife while working in Switzerland.

In 1997 he decided to purchase some of the Bru-Bu factory machinery and move the Bentley production to be continued as DAN PIPE.

Later Former returned to Denmark with the Bru-Bu factory machinery
