Hand Crafted Artisan Calabash Gourd Pipes
It is our pleasure to provide an handcarved original Calabash Gourd Pipes. Our aim is to make a quality Calabash Pipes that will be passed down from one generation to the next.
We have travelled most of the Africa in search of the finest quality “Calabash Gourds” and finally we got it in South Africa. Since we have our own Meerschaum Shafts in Eskisehir /Turkey, we only use “ Block Meerschaum” in an effort to produce the highest grade Calabash Pipes available.
Our Pipes are hand carved by the most experienced Turkish craftsmen from the highest quality solid block meerschaum. We strive to provide a constant quality in every step of our services.
When carving calabash gourd pipe the number one reason is the shape of the gourd. There are two styles “full bend” and “half bend”.
The second reason is the quality of the meerschaum. There are two different kind of meerschaums. Block and Pressed.
It is a crucial thing that you should take extreme care; you must make sure that when you’re buying a meerschaum pipe, you’re buying one that’s made of block meerschaum. Because, only the purist block meerschaum (magnesium silicate, Mg2Si3O8.2H2O) is suitable to make real pipes.
