Junichiro Higuchi was born at 1930 in Tokyo. He began making pipes in 1974, and received the first prize of a handmade pipe contest the same year. He makes about 50 pipes a year in shapes reminiscent of those made by his Danish colleargues. He also uses ivory, horn, and bamboo.
