"Ib Olsen along with Jess Philip Vigen, Per Hansen and Ulf Noltesnmeier was one of the craftsmen of Svend Bang. He had all the possibilities to express his abilities and skills. Svend Bang was reluctant to introduce onto the market pipes with more imaginative forms and for this reason this pipes were sold with the name of the craftsman and not with the name of S. Bang. Ib Olsen was the most prolific and innovative craftsman. If Svend Bang had lived long enought, he could have seen that those forms of pipes have been taken up by others pipemakers and are still being used. To report the use of the cumberland for mouthpieces and silver rings as the ones used for the pipes of S.Bang. Ib Olsen's pipes were also punched with roman numerals: I, II, III, IV, V and had the same value of the pipes branded S. Bang and sold at the same price. Per Hansen and Ulf Noltesnmeier took over S. Bang mark and Phil Vigen continues his work. Ib Olsen instead retired into private life and his few pipes hard to find.
