From Pipes, Artisans and Trademarks, by José Manuel Lopes'

Random was an anonymous brand. The maker tired of city life and left for the mountains of Colorado, where he lived close to nature. Random began making the brand in September of 2002, and was a member of the web discussion group alt.smokers.pipes. Some of his pipes were shaped out of a single piece, joined at the shank and the stem, made from ultem, a high temperature thermoplastic material which is tougher than acrylic.

Editors note: Random was also active on the Pipemakers Forum. Where he was known for unusual techniques and unproven materials. He is no longer active on the forum, and has likely moved on from making pipes. --sethile (talk) 14:15, 28 June 2015 (CDT)
