From Pipes, Artisans and Trademarks, by José Manuel Lopes

Salas-Zazo is the Spanish brand of the Madrid artisans Ramón Salas and Ricardo Zazo, two turners who produced various wooden pieces at a small wokshop in Costanilla de los Desamparados, behind the Palace Hotel. They set themselves up there in 1967 and did pipe repair work, but also produced some ppes for tabacconists and customer commissions.

The workshop clossed in December 2001. Ramón retired and Ricardo, the principal artisan who was called Maestro Zazo, at 63 years old, moved the machinery to Arturo del Pozo's shop in Calle Conde de Peñalver, where he oversaw the professional training of young makers and did repairwok and some pipes. Ricardo Zazo died on the 22nd of November, 2002.

Best series: signed Mastero Zazo. Some of the oldest pipes have a stamp with RR in an oval + Madrid
