This information was previously listed in an article titled Olson, IB, and presents a different take on this pipe maker. Decided to move it here for the present. Anyone with any corroborating information on this, or the main article are encouraged to reconcile the two accounts. --sethile (talk) 23:39, 3 December 2016 (CST)

Ib Olson, of Swedish descent, is supposed to have worked for S. Bang shortly. If that's true, it must have been before Per Hansen arrived there in 1970. BTW, most of Svend Bang's early and almost forgotten carvers came from and went back to Erik Nørding. Olson too?

His further career is just as nebulous as his beginnings. In the second half of the 1970's he became self-employed and the last reliable entry on his pipes dates from October of 2001. Another, yet unconfirmed information says, Olson quit on pipemaking to concentrate on making fishing rods for fly fishing.

Though quite well reputated for their quality his pipes seem to have remained an insider tip known to small number of enthusiasts in Europe only. Outside Europe his name is hardly ever mentioned.

The only known source to buy Ib Olson pipes: Ostermann of Vienna.
