Joseph (Joe) Cortegiano was a highly renowned Pipemaker in New York City, widely famed for the precision and care of his work. He was particularly known for his big freehands, which enjoyed large demand and were reported to be selling as easy as ice cream on a hot day. If we say big, we should think big: one has to imagine pipes a la Ser Jacopo maxima maxima maxima. Or even bigger.

Cortegiano pipes were stored in the most famous pipe shops of NYC like E. Wilke on Madison Avenue. He worked also for Barclay Rex.

Scott Parfumi, his grandson, worked as a pipemaker with Jack H. Weinberger, before he returned to New York in order to work in the tobacco shop of his family.
