As a family business, the Planta company has been “connected to tobacco” for four generations. The family of the company founder, Dr. Manfred Obermann owned a tobacco factory in Bünde, Westphalia. In 1956 he moved to Berlin to start his own company. Together with his wife Rosemarie and 10 employees, he laid the foundation for the Planta success story. Today, the company employs more than 120 people and exports its high-quality tobacco products to 40 countries worldwide, with the “Made in Germany” seal of quality being particularly important to the Planta family due to the fact that production takes place exclusively in Germany.[1]

Planta has now been taken over by Mac Baren.[2]
