My interest in pipes really began in 2008 when my father sent me his pipe collection since he couldn't smoke them anymore. I attended the 2009 Chicago Pipe Show to try and find out information on a couple of his pipes. Just by chance I happened to meet a gentleman by the name of Maigurs Knets, and saw the incredible pipes he was creating. After a brief conversation I found out he only lived twenty minutes from my house just over the border in Wisconsin. With many visits to his workshop and his tutelage he showed me the fine craft of pipe making from start to finish.

I began by making pipe tampers and worked my way up to making my own pipes. My first pipes I felt proud enough to sell began in 2010. Since I retired in 2020 of over thirty years in law enforcement, I've been able to spend more time in making pipes and focus on the fine art of pipe making. My pipes aren't necessarily the standard shapes. Although I can make them, I find the basic shapes boring. I seldom make two pipes exactly alike. I like to add something different to each pipe so each customer gets something slightly different and original.
