Claude et son fils Louis découvrirent que la bruyère avait des caractéristiques nettement supérieures, et à partir de 1848 n’utilisèrent plus que ce bois pour faire leurs pipes. En 1879 le fils de Louis, Henri, né en 1850, se rendit à Londres avec un petit sac d’outils mais une vaste expérience. Henri mit sur pied une petite usine à Seven Dials, actuellement Cambridge Circus. Il fut l’un des premiers installés à Londres à se lancer dans le commerce des pipes de bruyère et on lui attribue la paternité de l’inscription '''London Made'''. Il fut aidé au début par quelques uns de ses frères et autour de 1891 fut rejoint par ses deux neveux, Louis et Charles Chapuis. Louis prit le nom de ses parents adoptifs. Vers 1895 l’affaire avait dépassé le site de Seven Sisters et une nouvelle usine avait été construite à Newcastle Place, Clerckenwell. A partir de 1905 le marché s’étendit à l’Amérique et cette activité supplémentaire nécessita de construire une nouvelle usine en 1913 au 72 Rosebury Avenue. Avant la guerre de 14/18 Henri avait également été rejoint par ses fils, Adrien et Paul, qui étaient nés après l’arrivée de ses neveux à Londres. En 1921, Sam Zinberg fut nommé directeur des ventes pour les USA et '''The House Of Comoy''' fut créée. Henri Comoy décéda en 1924 à 74 ans laissant la compagnie aux mains de Louis et Charles. En 1929 la compagnie fut invitée à rejoindre Cadogan Invesments Ltd. On a connu cet épisode comme « La Fusion » qui a concerné la Compagnie Civic et les pipes Oppenheimer ainsi que leurs sociétés associées. Cette fusion avait été faite dans le but de faire travailler ensemble les différentes compagnies. En 1937, une nouvelle usine modèle, magnifiquement équipée, fut ouverte à Pentonville Road pour accueillir plusieurs centaines de personnes supplémentaires. La génération suivante avait rejoint la firme au moment où la seconde guerre mondiale éclata. Louis Chapuis Senior rejoignit le groupe en 1938 et Pierre Comoy en 1947 après avoir servi dans les blindés (Royal Armoured Corps). La Seconde Guerre Mondiale fut une période difficile pour la compagnie, car toute l’industrie de Grande Bretagne était tournée vers la production d’armement pour l’effort de guerre, et par conséquent la production de pipes fut arrêtée, à l’exception d’un petit atelier. Une fois la guerre finie en 1945, ce fut une tâche ardue pour toutes les compagnies britanniques de se rétablir de nouveau, et ce ne fut pas avant 1950, et l’ouverture d’une nouvelle usine spécialisée à Aldershot que la production rejoignit à peu près la demande. [[Image:Comoy tradition.gif|left|thumb|250px|Comoy's Tradition]] [[Image:Comoy virgin.gif|right|thumb|250px|Comoy's Virgin Briar]] Les principales compagnies fusionnées sous le nom de Cadogan Investments Ltd étaient Civic, Comoy’s et Marechal, Ruchon & Co Ltd, et au début des années 1960, l’usine fonctionnait sous une seule direction mais les différents services marketing ont continué de travailler de façon indépendante pendant encore un bon nombre d’années. Dans mon catalogue de 1965, on trouve le constat suivant : « Et maintenant, nous les Comoys de la quatrième génération, conjointement avec ceux de la cinquième, Pierre Comoy et Louis Chapuis, continuons à suivre le chemin tracé par nos aïeux, qui seraient satisfaits de voir notre toute dernière et ultra moderne implantation à Aldershot, Hampshire. ». Comoy’s demeura une propriété familiale jusqu’à ce qu’elle soit finalement absorbée par Cadogan Investment‘s au début des années 1980. Cadogan a continué à fabriquer des pipes Comoy jusqu’à aujourd’hui, et, sous la direction de Michael Adler, la marque Comoy est leur fleuron et beaucoup d’efforts sont déployés pour rétablir à nouveau l’excellente réputation de la marque. Le collectionneur de Comoy ne s'intéresse seulement qu'aux pipes fabriquées avant que Comoy ne soit véritablement absorbé par Cadogan au début des années 1980 et je me suis donc concentré sur cette période.
