Während der ersten 40 Jahre konnte [[GBD]] 15 Leistungs-Medaillen auf internationalen Ausstellungen weltweit erringen. Dies half, die Marke nicht nur in Europa, sondern auch in den USA, Kanada, Australien und etwas später in Südafrika erfolgreich einzuführen. Von Anfang an verwendete [[GBD]] nur das beste [[Bruyere]] bzw. entsprechend vorbearbeitete Pfeifenköpfe. |
| h English (en) | Very early the proprietors of GBD recognized the inestimable advantages of briar wood for tobacco pipes. Shortly after the first fabrications in Saint-Claude had started they fixed contacts with suppliers there and began to obtain the new raw material to produce briar pipes in Paris. Soon the briars outdid the Meerschaums as the mainstay product. Business and reputation developed quickly and well. During it's first 40 years, GBD was honored with 15 medals of achievement on important international fairs worldwide. This helped a lot to introduce the brand successfully not only in Europe, but also in the USA, Canada, Australia and a little bit later in South Africa. From the very beginning GBD obtained only best quality stummels and/or pre-drilled pipes. |

Peu après que les premières fabrications eurent débuté à Saint-Claude ils prirent contact avec des fournisseurs de là-bas et commencèrent à se procurer le nouveau matériau brut pour produire des pipes en bruyère à Paris. Bientôt la bruyère supplanta l’écume en tant que production principale. Les affaires ainsi que le renom de la marque se développèrent vite et bien. Au cours des 40 premières années de son existence, GBD se vit honorer de 15 médailles pour ses réalisations, à d’importantes foires internationales. Ceci aida beaucoup à introduire la marque non seulement en Europe mais aussi aux USA, Canada, Australie et un peu plus tard également en Afrique du Sud.
