Dr. Grabow is America’s biggest pipemaker at that time with approximately 250,000 to 300,000 pipes per year, which are manufactured by 62 persons employed. As the reason for the $ 4.3 million  deal, which also included Dr. Grabow Pipe Filters and Dill's Pipe Cleaners, Lane Limited (the daughter of  Reynolds American Inc.) said it wanted to concentrate in the future only on its core business as manufacturers and distributors of tobacco goods.
