Would like to know what kind of wood that Dr. Grabow's pipe bows are made of. --[[User:Taztime|Taztime]]
: Most have been made from [[Briar]], although I remember hearing they used [[Mission Briar]] during the years of World War II when traditional briar was difficult to get. Mission briar was likely the top root section of the Manzanita tree, much like traditional briar is the top root section of the heath tree (Erica arborea).  They also made metal pipes with briar bowls at one point. More info here on [[Dr. Grabow]], although the article does not expand on the materials they have used over the years that much.
