Maksim Nazarenko started learning about pipes as a pipe-smoker. His love for pipe-smoking inspired him to make a pipe by his own hands. The idea to make pipes professionally was suggest by Maksim's friend, Yuriy Kundiev. He made his first pipe in autumn, 2008, and decided to change his life completely. Now he devotes most of his time to making pipes.

Maksim spends more than 30 hours to make one pipe. The work starts with an idea, which he puts to paper and pencil. When the drawing is ready, it's time to choose the right piece of briar. He uses a lathe to drill the tobacco hole and airhole only. The main part of the work is done by hand. Pipes are of Mediterranean briar, as a rule Italian one by Romeo Domenico (Mimmo), although he has plans to try Algerian, Spanish and Greek briar. Stems are all hand cut of German Ebonite and Cumberland. He sometimes uses exotic wood, horn, and imitation elephant ivory as accents on his pipes.
