"The Ephemeris is a limited edition, irregular quarterly for pipe smokers and anyone else who is interested in its contents" and sent to "Coterians" around the World. Tom became a "broken pipe" in December 2005, although he had hopes to release yet another issue, but his health was deteriorating rapidly, and that next issue never materialized.

'''Editor's note''': I regret that I was not aware of Ephemeris, or The Universal Coterie of Pipe Smokers until recently. I just bought my first and only copy of the Ephemeris (the last issue, Winter - Spring, 2005) from [http://www.pipestyle.com/dunn1.htm Hermit Tobacco] at the MAPS show in Milwaukee. I hope to buy more editions on the used market as I can find and afford them. The last issue has 116 pages of excellent reading. I'm very envious of long time Coterians, especially those that new Tom personally, or enjoyed regular correspondence with him. I hope it will eventually be possible to obtain re-prints or electronic copies of the Ephemeris. If anyone knows of how this can be done legally and ethically, please edit this entry, or start a separate article by clicking [[The Pipe Smokers Ephemeris]]. At least one scanned Ephemeris exists at on-line [http://tobaccodocuments.org/nysa_ti_s3/TI11571830.html?zoom=750&ocr_position=above_foramatted&start_page=1&end_page=53#images February 1992 Ephemeris], "Collectors Directory: A Selection of Members Smoking and Other Interests". Interesting enough, this site (http://Tobaccodocuments.org) appears to be a collection of tobacco related materials released by tobacco companies as part of the November 23, 1998, Master Settlement Agreement between the U.S. tobacco industry and various states' attorneys general. Certainly worth exploring further for pipe related lore.

It has recently come to light that Tom's wishes were that the Ephemeris itself not be re-printed in any form. Pipedia will certainly honor that request. However, if any of the contributors to the Ephemeris would like to re-publish their individual contributions or memories of Tom here, that would be most welcome. SEThile (Pipedia SYSOP).
