From Pipes, Artisans and Trademarks, by Jose Manuel Lopés'
Hans Krenn, an inveterate pipe smoker, decided to start making pipes for himself and for friends in 1991. The orders have built up, but he still only makes a few dozen pipes a year to sell.
He says that each piece takes between 10 and 40 hours to make. He works with Corsican briar and uses stems for 9 mm filters, although he does make standards on request.
