His grandfathers were also pipe smokers. Biota in the Torinese dialect means 'naked or nude'.  For Michele a pipe is a naked item to watch and observe. He enjoys walking in mountains and woodlands, and there he finds inspiration from nature that inspires him to create original and new pipe shapes. He also finds inspiration from the following pipe makers: [[Asteriou, Chris|Chris Asteriou]], Yves Backstoner, Andrey Savenko, [[Zenz Pipes|Klaus Zenz]], and Abi Natur , which he mentioned in an interview: https://alekosoul.com/2015/11/24/intervista-con-la-biota-pipe/

From Michele:

The passion for the pipe was born as a child when I admired his grandfather's pipe. I started building them for myself until I reached artistic maturity. Today I produce artisan pipes inspired by classic shapes but reinterpreting them and trying to find new shapes by looking at the Danish style. I also draw a lot of inspiration from nature during my mountain walks.

I use only Italian briar and various essences to embellish my creations with inserts. I especially like using roe deer horns to make some particular models, as I am very attached to the mountain for my origins.

Each pipe is entirely made by hand and as such is to be considered a unique piece.

"Each pipe is a small world"
"In line with the thought that "nature is the true artist and man can only interpret it" stands the concept with which Michele demonstrates all his excellent skill, which distinguishes him from other pipe manufacturers. Michele is a master, he plays with nature and like a child he manipulates different objects composing them in a harmony that only he is able to find. This type of pipe is his signature."
