From the Gabos Pipes website:
I was born in 1971. I live in Miercurea Ciuc, a small town in Transylvania, in the land of the Szeklers, just beneath the Harghita mountains. Here, where the conifer woods, the blooming fields and the crystal clear rivers create a dreamlike setting, the art of wood carving has its origins. Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by the style and the ornamental richness with which, in these lands, the wood creations are imbued with.
From an early age I have felt a special sensibility towards beauty; an irresistible attraction to contemplate and absorb with all my senses the vibrations transmitted by art in all of its forms.
I have graduated from the Faculty of Wood Industry of the "Transylvania" University in Brasov, as did both my parents. Here I have perfected my knowledge in the field and have become licensed in interior and furniture design and technology. My favorite classes were those of design, styles and ornaments and furniture architecture.
My passion for pipes came as a revelation. I needed something to put my creative energy in. My hands and my imagination were in need of something in which I could best use my knowledge and skills. And that is when the Pipe entered my life. A relatively small object but one that can enclose in itself so much passion, technology and architecture. A work of art that enchants your eye, caresses your palms and delights you with the scent of burning tobacco, bringing peace and tranquility to the soul.
I hope that from now on I can delight you with my pipes which, I promise, will always be made with the greatest attention and passion and will bear in them a part of my soul.
