Heiner Nonnenbroich, from his website

Heiner Nonnenbroich (hn handmade pipes) created handmade pipes between 2002 and 2016.[1]

Heiner Nonnenbroich was born in 1953. A piano teacher, whose parents were artisans, his first experiments with pipes date back to the early 1970s.

He produces 50 to 70 pipes a year. They are freehands, 85% or which are fitted for 9 mm filters. He uses ebonite and acrylic stems, and uses briar from Italy, Algeria, and Corsica. His accessories are in acrylic and various types of wood.

Grading is (ascending): E, D, C, B, A, and AA. Stamp: logo + handmade, + grading.[2]

My name is Heiner Nonnenbroich, born in 1953. In my first job I am a piano teacher and work at a music school. I have been making pipes since 2002. My pipes are exclusively hand-made freehands. Most of my pipes are without filter. I source the best briar wood I can get only as plateaux from Italy and Spain. After the forming and staining, the pipes are oiled and - after several days of drying - polished and finished with Carnauba wax. The mouthpieces are made from the best German ebonite rods.[3]
