I was born in Lüneburg in 1990 and basically grew up with pipes, as my father has been a passionate pipe smoker and collector for over 40 years.

Kroll at work, from his websiteAt the age of 18, I bought my first pipe and tried pipe smoking, but the enthusiasm that had arisen quickly faded. At the age of 20, I tried pipe smoking again and was finally able to get used to the hobby. I began collecting handmade pipes and became very enthusiastic about pipe makers and their craftsmanship.
As I have always had an affinity for handicrafts, I began to research pipe making on the Internet. In the spring of 2013, I came up with the idea of buying a bench grinder to work on pre-drilled hobby squares. This is how my first own projects came about and my enthusiasm for pipe making grew.
In the summer of 2013, the time had finally come: I bought my first lathe, even though I had no idea about the subject. I was finally able to drill and shape plateau wood myself. At the same time, I also bought a small table lathe, which was necessary for making hand-cut mouthpieces.
Since 2014, I have only been making handmade pipes. All pipes from Grading C* to PK-Grading have a handmade mouthpiece. Since buying the bench grinder, I have taught myself the craft and set up a professional pipe-making workshop. In 2018, I met Holmer Knudsen and Hans Former Nielsen. These two pipe makers have since given me valuable tips and inspiration, as well as allowing me to visit their respective workshops.
My highlights as a pipe maker were the visits to Intertabac in 2018/19 and the visit to Former in Denmark in 2019.

In the last few years, Henrik made a very brave step. He quit his solid employment with secure income and became a fulltime pipemaker. All his income now comes from making pipes which is a true sign of confidence in his own work. And thank god, his order books are well filled. So well that we have to be patient until you'll find new pipes from Henrik in our shop.
In addition to finding Henrik Kroll pipes at Cigarworld, his pipes are available on his own website. Kroll also takes Custom Orders.
