In 2000, a new D.R. series was launched with stronger grains, named "Flames", and they follow the same criteria, but classified with "flames" instead of stars.
Twice a year, a very special batch was separated to be classified by the company's chairman - only the best pipes among the best were separated for that purpose. This selection began with Alfred Dunhill (the exact date is unknown) and ceased with Richard Dunhill. In these situations, additional stamps were applied, which said: "Specially Selected By" and the Chairman's signature.
