Jan Harry Seiffert comes from the well known tobacco-import-company Seiffert in Kassel. To him pipebuilding was laid in the cradle, because his godfather was Harry Kapp, partner of Charles Peterson, both owners of the famous irish pipe house Kapp and Peterson in Dublin.
At the age of 6 years Jan Harry spends his holidays in Denmark with Tao Nielson, a business partner of his father Detlef Seiffert. At that time Tao Nielson led together with Hendrik Jörgensen the pipe manufacture Svendborg and - he became Jan Harry's first master when he gave him a prerotated Kantel from which small Jan Harry formed his first pipe of. Even he might smoke his work - until he got sick.
During the school years Jan Harry discovered the music. Beside his main instrument, the electric bass, he also plays keyboard and percussion.Already with 16 he stood on the stage and till this day he is a respected funkjazz musician in Kassel and surroundings.
But back to the pipes: After the school he spent at first some months in the pipe manufacture Svendborg. Afterwards he learned in famous Italian house Savinelli in Varese the pipe production. After a stopover in his hometown Kassel he went to Charles Peterson in Dublin where he also learned the high art of the silver tape integration.
Back in Kassel he took over the repair workshop of the fatherly company, bought other machine parts from Denmark and England and crafted his first pipes. Jan Harry Seiffert had his breakthrough in the market in 1993 on the Intertabac. Now since then he has formed some hundred pipes and with big experimental joy has developed his own style. The brand name of the musical pipebuilderis - how it could be different - a whistle linked with a clef.
