Jura department

Jura is a department[1] (#39) in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region in eastern France. This is where Saint-Claude the french capital of pipe manufacturing is located.

This name has graced many pipes by many makers, including Alpha, who made a Jura line for the Tinder Box, and Chacom, who still makes a Jura line of pipes.

Jura brand

The Jura brand, however, was made by André Lançon, who built a factory in 1926 later acquired by Ropp.
