Von Eicken a-t-il continué à produire du tabac Dunhill dans l'Allemagne nazie jusqu'en 1943, date à laquelle ses usines ont été bombardées par les forces alliées ? Selon Herr Von Eicken, il n'y avait pas de tabac en feuilles disponible pendant la guerre, donc, non. Le rationnement du tabac a été imposé au début de la guerre et près de 70 % du tabac en feuilles disponible fut détourné vers les forces armées pendant le reste de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. On ne peut pas  imaginer non plus qu'un produit aussi luxueux que le tabac Dunhill ait été acheté par une population allemande en difficulté. Mais il faut admettre qu'il est tentant de penser que certaines boîtes ont peut-être été fabriquées à la fin de 1938 et au début de 1939. Ce serait vraiment une sorte de saint Graal sinistre du tabac Dunhill.

Tobacco rationing was imposed in the beginning of the war and almost 70% of the available smoky leaf was diverted to the armed forces for the remainder of WWII. Also I can’t imagine that such a luxury product as Dunhill tobacco was bought by the struggling German population. But one has to admit, it is a tantalizing thought that perhaps some tins were made at the end of 1938 and beginning of 1939. That would really be a kind of sinister holy grail of Dunhill tobacco.
