Salmastro is a recent Italian brand by Michele Mellone Salmastro, who started making pipes in 2004.

Michele was born in Trieste and lives in Monferrato, Asti. He has done graphic work, painting and design, and still designs furniture. He began making pipes, and the Danish influence is clear, after contacts with Mimmo of Romeo Pipe. He makes 60 to 80 pipes a year, mostly freehands, some with horn stems.
